Session 2

Remember to click on the tabs under the banner to view the artist references from each session!

Session 2 involved a conceptual engagement with the activities from the previous Dodgeball tournament. Using the simple systemic formula from the game word association, the students were encouraged to respond to the word 'dodgeball'. The responses were recorded as above. This activity was performed twice, first as an instantaneous reaction, secondly as a response to the images documenting the Dodgeball tournament.

Print outs containing imargery from the marks made in the previous session were used as a template for cutting the letters out.

The words, selected by the students were realised and a short 'Beat poetry' session ensued. These words will be incorporated into sculptural signs in next weeks session.

We also managed to squeeze in a visit to the DAC Beachcroft law firm to meet the team who are involved in initiating this project. The students were able to see where the art work produced with BRISTOL DIVING SCHOOL may end up. This is important to consider during each workshop, as the working environment is very different between the two spaces. There is an array of potential spaces the work could be displayed, and this will affect how the work functions. This will be an ongoing process of refinement as we develop a better understanding of the artwork produced over the 7 weeks.
